Why you need to stay hydrated?

Why you need to stay hydrated?
There’s a reason why so many health articles stress the importance of hydration—you need to stay hydrated to survive! Every aspect of your body needs water to work properly. Water is used to carry nutrients to your cells as well as flush waste from your body. It’s used to control body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. Proper hydration affects the health of your muscles, joints, heart, skin, and even your brain, and without it, your body begins to shut down.
There are plenty of reasons why hydration is essential to overall health. Let’s break down what you can do to keep yourself hydrated every day.
How much water do I need? You probably know by now you need to drink water every day. The most common recommendation is 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, 8 ounces each. This is a good goal to maintain, but keep in mind that everyone has different hydration needs depending on various factors like age, weight, amount of physical activity, and climate. You may need more than 8 glasses of water a day, especially if your lifestyle is very active. The best thing you can do to know how much water you need is to listen to your body’s signals like thirst, dry mouth, fatigue, darker-colored (more concentrated) urine, headache, dry skin, dizziness, and mental fogginess.
Hydrate
What can I eat or drink to stay hydrated? Drinking water is the best way to stay hydrated, but there are other foods and drinks that help as well. Water can be found in fruits, vegetables, and foods like soup, sauces, and gravies. Juices, milk, tea, and even coffee contain water that helps with hydration. However, food and drinks other than water can contain extra calories, sugar, salt, and caffeine, and any of these in large amounts can counteract hydration.
For athletes, sports drinks can be helpful for hydration because they have carbohydrates and electrolytes to increase your energy and help your body absorb water. But watch out for added sugars! Also, recognize the difference between sports drinks and energy drinks; energy drinks usually contain large amounts of caffeine, and it’s best to limit caffeine intake if you want to prioritize hydration.
What are some strategies to help stay hydrated? If you have a hard time staying hydrated and/or keeping track of how much water you’re drinking, here are some tips that can help:
·        Carry a reusable water bottle with you during the day.
·        Hydrate on a schedule. For example, drink water when you wake up, at every meal, and before you go to bed. Another easy routine is to drink some water at the beginning of every hour.
·        When you are exercising, remember to drink water before, during, and after your workout.
·        You can make water more appealing by infusing it with lemon, lime, strawberry slices, or other fruits.
·        When you feel hungry, drink water first! Hunger can be confused with thirst.
·        When you go out to eat, drink water at the restaurant. It keeps you hydrated, and you don’t have to spend extra for a drink.
Keeping yourself hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your health. Remember that your body only functions well when it’s hydrated, and while many foods and drinks can help, water is still the best option. Now grab your water bottle, fill it up, and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Are there Chemicals in Your Skin Care?

The truth is, most skin care products contain questionable and even downright harmful chemicals. Your products can also expose you to known cancer-causing pesticides, and deliver dangerous toxins that penetrate and age your skin.
Here are 5 harmful chemicals that are commonly used in skin care products:
1. Parabens – These chemicals mimic estrogen and lead to hormone imbalance and may cause reproductive issues like infertility or slowed growth and development disorders in children.
2. Phthalates – A common ingredient in fragrances, phthalates block testosterone and damage a man’s reproductive system. These chemicals have been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.
3. Mercury – Some skin care products use mercury to lighten the skin. Steer clear of products with calomel, mercurio, mercurio chloride or just plain old mercury.
4. Petroleum – Petroleum contains 1,4-Dioxane, which has been listed as a probable carcinogen by the World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency.
5. Hydroquinone – Used to reduce the melanin in your skin to get rid of unsightly marks, it permanently alters the pigment in your skin and weakens the elastin and collagen in the problem area.
In my Vitality for Life Newsletter I cover more tips and tricks to take years of aging off your face and add that youthful glow. You can sign up for it here
For skin care products that do not contain these ingredients and are free of over 2,500 other harmful chemicals and questionable ingredients you can find them here in a product line called Youth.

Why going green is the clean way to go and Why so important?

Why going green is the clean way to go and Why so important?

It’s shocking how “dirty” some household cleaners can actually be. Some cleaning products contain phosphates, nitrates, chlorine bleach, ammonia, or formaldehyde, chemicals that are potentially toxic and can produce harmful fumes—presenting a danger to your home and our planet. A large European multicenter study showed that regular use of cleaning sprays over a 20 year period was associated with a more rapid decline in lung function.* With over 80,000 chemicals in widespread commercial use and many making their way into cleaning products (often without being tested first), it makes sense to switch out your current cleaning products for green alternatives.  Look at how the asthma numbers have increased. Think about the health of your children and pets.
What is green cleaning?
Green cleaning means choosing cleaning solutions that keep your health and the environment in mind. We’re talking about products that clean your house without leaving behind toxic chemicals, and multi-use products that can be diluted and used in different applications to cut back on packaging and waste. The good news? There are green cleaning solutions out there for every cleaning need: dishwashing, laundry, tile countertops, hardwood floors, and more.

But do green cleaners actually work?
Green cleaners have come a long way from just baking soda, vinegar, and lemons, and “natural” doesn’t need to mean “delicate.” A good green cleaning product will be tough on dirt and grime while still being gentle on the environment. We have been green since 1960.

 It’s time to go green!
If a clean home and a clean Earth are important to you, then there’s no better reason to switch to green cleaners. It’s time to go green and start making your home the safest place for your family.

I am so thankful!
I am very thankful that I found my green products when I did in 1979 and have not had any of the chemical cleaners or Laundry in my home since.  I would love to share them with you.
