I am certain that you have experienced times in your life when you wanted to quit. Don’t feel alone! It is an experience that is simply part of life and is common to all of us.
Perhaps it was when you were faced with an extremely difficult class in school where the information was way over your head. Possibly you have been in a business situation where you felt overwhelmed or maybe you have been in a relationship that you felt was a big mistake as each day got harder and harder.
All of us can identify with some aspect of life that completely overwhelmed us. If you feel as though you are the only one who has ever wanted “throw in the towel,” do not be dismayed. Everyone, at one time or another, has felt your pain!
A friend of mine once told me that even Jesus wanted to quit! I didn't think that sounded quite right. He then reminded me of the time when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane praying. He asked his Father if there was any possible way out of the cross situation he was about to face. And there was no other way out! That helped me to realize that if Jesus wanted to give up and quit, I should not despair when I face trying times and difficult situations myself.
I have discovered that the secret to pressing through difficult times is by simply being devoted to the cause in which I am involved. Someone who is devoted to what they are doing will prosper. It may take longer, and it may take more diligent focus. It may take more determination and hard work. But, if a person will focus on the solution rather than on the problem at hand, and simply stay devoted to the cause, they will be much better off. If they develop “staying power,” they will sooner or later accomplish their goals and dreams.
Perhaps you have heard the word “sticktoitiveness.” That word sums up what I am talking about. It is the ability to stick with something until you can get over the “hump” and are able to see your way clear to experience more success in your efforts. If you stick to something long enough, in time, it will get better. Your devotion to your goal and mission will cause you to prosper. If you focus on the solution and the end result of your dream, it will help you when you face the daily trials that are sure to come your way. It is only one person out of a large crowd who will have the vision and ability to look past their current set of circumstances to see the rich reward that is waiting for them if they will simply keep plodding along and remain devoted to the task at hand.
Every success story I have ever read, and every rags to riches story that has blessed my heart, focuses on the same issue; namely, working through difficult times. Almost every person who has experienced huge rewards and great success can look back to the time when they wanted to give up and quit but did not do so because they were devoted to what they were doing. Because they “stayed with the stuff,” they eventually saw the light at the end of the tunnel…and it was not a train coming towards them! It was the fulfillment of their dream and the goal that they longed to reach.
Most of us have watched exciting ballgames. No one is thrilled when one team is winning by a huge margin. People get up and leave those games early! But, the game people will be talking about for years to come is the one in which both teams are struggling hard down to the last few seconds and one team wins by just a few points after a hard fought battle.
As they often say, “The tougher the battle, the sweeter the victory.” Your sweet victory may be just a few more weeks away. Do not give up. Remain focused on the task and remember to be devoted to all that you are doing. In the end you will win. Victory is assured and the rewards of your accomplishments will be enjoyed for the rest of your life!
Tip: Whatever you devote yourself to will prosper!
Have a great week! God bless you!
